bronze national navigation award (BNNAS)

Pre Requisites: None

Course Information: Whether you want to get out into the hills but are unsure how to navigate or wish to consolidate you skills so far the Bronze National Navigation Award could be for you. No experience is required. We will give you the knowledge you need to successfully navigate along basic routes whether you are wanting to walk along the North Downs way or discover the national parks of the UK. You will learn how to plan a successful route, identify basic features on the ground and on the map to help you along the way and give you time to really get to grips with understanding maps, estimating distance and time.

Assessment: The course has an element of assessment but wherever possible will be continuous throughout allowing for the instructor to tick things off when they see them rather than having the added stress of a set assessment period. The criteria will be clearly laid out at the beginning of the course and you will leave the course feeling well practiced and confident.

What is provided? We believe it is important to use your own equipment if you have it but please show it to your instructor at the beginning of the course so that they can check its suitability. We can supply maps, compasses, course notes and a Bronze National Navigation Award certificate and badge on successful completion of the course. If you want to buy any equipment prior to your course please have a look at our shop. It can be sent to you in preparation for your course or we can have it ready for you to use on the first day.
