eleni says...I had an amazing time on the paddling weekend in February, run by Creative Outdoors (despite the freezing conditions!) The instructors were very knowledgeable and highly skilled, and taught me a range of different paddling skills in a short space of time. The camaraderie on the trip really helped to boost morale towards the end of the weekend when we were all a bit worn out and cold! The instructors' enthusiasm and friendly, approachable manner really helped the group to bond and as a result, work better as a team to help each other when needed. I was taught necessary skills in both a canoe and a kayak, allowing me to achieve my BCU One Star paddle sports award. As well as this, the weekend really helped me to push myself to new limits and make new friends outside my regular social group. It was a great trip and I will certainly be attending more in the future! I'd highly recommend this, and other trips with Creative Outdoors, as it was definitely an extraordinary experience. 6th form student

emma says...To be honest, I wasn’t particularly looking forward to a whole week end of traipsing through barren, muddy and sheep riddled fields in Wales, but I was proven sorely wrong, the experience being one of my most memorable out of many adventurous training courses. We learnt on the go how to navigate, with everyone giving it a go and improving as we went. Eventually these skills became second nature, and we began to learn how to read beyond the map – using every aspect of the landscape to help us along the way. Our guides had such a great knowledge and passion for the flora and fauna around us, for example using their military knowledge as well to tell us about the uses of various fast absorbing mosses for field dressings. Some hills proved challenging, but our guides saw our potential and never ceased to motivate and support us on. We were rewarded with such beautiful sights of the peaks of Snowdonia stretching before us, allowing us to reflect on how far we’d travelled in such a short space of time. Spending so much time together we forged new friendships along the way and supported each other, especially when one of our team members was too busy reading the map to spot the enormous mud puddle right in front of her… All in all the adventure, the sights and the laughs along the way made this trip unforgettable. 6th form student

katherine says...An excellent and comprehensive weekend, the Navigation and walking weekend really was the whole package. From health and safety briefings, map lessons to emergency procedures, the team delivered information in an engaging and exciting manner. The pupils were given responsibility for different stages of the walk and this gave them a real purpose. Stu and the team also had some exciting warm ups and group navigation exercises to test pupils skills which everybody enjoyed. With Stu and his team you can rest easy knowing you are in safe hands whilst assured in the knowledge your pupils will have a memorable and exciting weekend. teacher
