climbing wall taster (CWT)

Pre Requisites: A desire to learn

Course Information: If you are interested in finding out what indoor climbing is all about then come along to one of our taster sessions. We will show you the basics of wearing a climbing harness, tying in safely and belaying so that you can get on the climbing wall and see what it is all about. Whilst you are climbing and belaying your instructor will give you hints and tips to make it easier and keep you safe at all times. We hope that you will leave armed with the tools to go indoor climbing yourself and come back for another Creative Outdoors course.

Assessment: None. We want you to just enjoy the experience.

What is provided? All climbing equipment and instruction is provided. If you want to buy any equipment prior to your session please have a look at our shop. It can be sent to you in preparation for your session or we can have it ready for you to use when you arrive.

climbing wall beginner (CWB)

Pre Requisites: A desire to learn

Course Information: Whether you have some experience of climbing indoors or you have never tried climbing before this course is for you. We will cover the basics needed for you to be a safe climber which will include learning how to put on your harness, tie in as a climber and safe belaying techniques. You will then get a chance to put into practice what you've learnt by climbing. Whilst you are fitting in as many climbs as you want your instructor will give you technical hints and tips to help you get better and design a programme around you and what you want to get out of the course.

Assessment: There is no assessment but your instructor will happily give you an action plan at the end of the day to guide you along the road to becoming the climber you want to be.

What is provided? We believe it is important to use your own equipment if you have it but please show it to your instructor at the beginning of the session so that they can check its suitability. If you have equipment you use at the indoor wall, bring it along. If you are brand new to the sport and have no equipment don't worry. Helmets, harnesses and belay devices are provided for you, as well as all the group safety and climbing equipment required to make your day safe but fun. If you want to buy any equipment prior to your session please have a look at our shop. It can be sent to you in preparation for your session or we can have it ready for you to use when you arrive.

climbing club (CC)

Pre Requisites: An interest in climbing

Course Information
If you like climbing and the social side of climbing then come along to our club night. In the winter we are inside and during the summer months we will be at a local outcrop of rock. The details and location will be communicated each week. You can learn at your own pace and work with other like minded individuals. To help guide you in your continuing discovery of climbing we provide a progressive 'passport' of skills that you can aim for and tick off along the way. The 'passport' will also provide you and your instructor with easily understandable information to formulate your training sessions and set you goals along the way. There are child, parent and child and adult sessions available and are offered on a half termly block booking scheme. If you love climbing but you need someone to climb with then come along and we will endeavour to pair you up.

Assessment 
No formal assessment period but each part of the 'passport' will be ticked off when your instructors sees you achieve the correct standard.

rock climbing intermediate (RCIFD)

Pre Requisites: Some outdoor rock experience or attendance on one of our Intro to Rock Climbing courses, being able to put on and adjust your harness and helmet, tie in and belay is important. 

Course Information: This course will enable you to feel confident climbing in the single pitch environment so you can go away and do it for yourself. You will further your climbing skills, learn about different types of equipment used in rock climbing, how to use them and how to rig up a climb for yourself.
